Marriage today is struggling. Divorces, adultery, misconceptions, etc are plaguing not only the marriage itself but products of those marriages (my generation and the next). My hope in this poem is to highlight the most frequent and problematic issues marriages face today while also pointing to Jesus as the ultimate healer, redeemer, and restorer. His grace can fix any marriage, His love can heal any marriage, and His cross can absorb any failings/shortcomings in any marriage. Marriage is simply a shadow of our relationship with our Creator. God pursues us, loves us, and makes us "one" with Him by the Cross and so marriage on earth is simply God's main tool to communicate with us on how he relates to human beings. Jesus made clear that heaven will begin with a wedding celebration (the church is His bride) and heaven will be the ultimate fulfillment of us living in eternity with Him as our head.
